The number of variants is pulled from Discogs, a site that catalogs commercial music releases, without human intervention. These releases are unique in format and have distinct catalog numbers as designated by Republic Records (note that the online/electronic releases are distinct but are not given catalog numbers). The number includes all online and physical releases of The Tortured Poet's Department in various countries. Theoretically, a collector could own, both physically and electronically, all of these unique versions of the album.
